Richard Reid

Lead Guitar

Hometown: Arlington, Texas

Richard received his first acoustic guitar at age 8. A few years and a couple hundred dollars later he went and bought his first electric guitar and started practicing everyday. While attending Arlington high school, he played rhythm guitar and bass guitar for two years in jazz band. He received his first taste of playing live music, both in jazz band, and playing for a band called "Jouthern Sukebox". After high school, Richard went to college at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas where he played lead guitar for the "Lost Cause band" and filled in for Jason Martin. While playing in the "Lost Cause band" Richard was able to further develop his sound, become a better musician (get over stagefright), as well as play alongside artists such as Jason Boland, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Gary P. Nunn, and many others. After he graduated from TSU with a degree in Soil Science, Richard and two of the members from the "Lost Cause band" played with Bart Crow. While keeping a busy schedule with Bart, he was also fortunate enough to play with Shy Blakeman and Kyle Hunt. During this time, he was able to further develop his skills as a lead guitar player, as well as play along with Cooder Graw, Jason Boland, Charlie Robison, and many other performers.
After a year of vacation away from guitar (a long needed one) and a wedding, Richard was able to fill in for the Southern Roots Band during a Halloween show. After the start of the next year Rich became a fulltime member of the Southern Roots band where he continues to bring even more "youthful energy" and his "Texas country" sound.
Rich hangs out with his wife Trista and two black labs, Buster and Abby.
